Went to use my #WGNBPW920 Ver.A Blood pressure monitor this morning and there is no positioning arrows. These arrows have been on every screen since monitor was new. Still goes through pump up and gives me a BP count but is not picky about arm placement. Have I changed something, batteries, or ????. Is this a correct reading

Can't find the answer to your question in the manual? You may find the answer to your question in the FAQs about the Walgreens WGNBPW-920 below.

What does systolic pressure mean?

Systolic pressure is the top number that the blood pressure monitor will indicate. Systolic pressure refers to the amount of pressure in your arteries during the contraction of your heart muscle.

What does diastolilc pressure mean?

Diastolic pressure is the lowest number that the blood pressure monitor will indicate. The bottom number refers to your blood pressure when your heart muscle is between beats.

What is a normal blood pressure?

A normal blood pressure is about 120/80.

How can I properly use and interpret the readings from my sphygmomanometer?

First, ensure you are seated comfortably with your feet flat on the ground and your arm positioned at heart level. Apply the cuff snugly around your upper arm, aligning the artery marker over your brachial artery. Inflating the cuff, listen for the first and last sounds using a stethoscope. The first sound corresponds to your systolic pressure, while the disappearance of sounds indicates your diastolic pressure.

Why is it important to properly position the cuff during measurement?

Correct cuff placement ensures accurate blood pressure readings. Placing the cuff too loosely or not at heart level can result in falsely elevated readings. Likewise, a cuff that is too tight or positioned incorrectly can yield falsely low measurements.

How often should I calibrate my sphygmomanometer to maintain accuracy?

Regular calibration is vital to uphold measurement precision. Verify the accuracy of your device by comparing its readings to those obtained using a calibrated device. It is recommended to calibrate your sphygmomanometer at least once a year to guarantee reliable results.

What steps should I take to ensure the longevity of my sphygmomanometer?

Proper maintenance is key. Keep the device clean and dry at all times, storing it in a protective case when not in use. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight, as this can affect its performance. Regularly inspect the tubing and cuff for any signs of damage or wear, and replace them as necessary.

Is it possible to get an accurate blood pressure reading if I am experiencing an irregular heartbeat?

Absolutely! Many modern sphygmomanometers, including the Walgreens WGNBPW-920, are equipped with advanced algorithms that compensate for irregular heart rhythms. These devices can detect irregularities and provide reliable blood pressure measurements even under these conditions.
