• Do not att ach labels, or use disc s with stic ky
ink/r esidue . Suc h discs m ay stop spin ning
when used, ca using a malfuncti on, or may ruin
the disc.
• Do not us e any discs w ith la bels or stickers
attached a s this may cause inabi lity to r ead data
corr ectly ( e.g. , pla yback skippi ng, o r no
playba ck) du e to he at shri nkin g of a sti cker or
label caus ing a disc to warp.
• Discs with non-s tandard shapes (e.g., hea rt,
squar e, star ) cann ot be pla yed on thi s unit.
Attempting to do so may damage th e unit. Do
not use su ch discs.
• Be fore pl ayin g, clean discs w ith a
commer cial ly a v aila ble c leanin g cl oth. W ipe
each di sc fro m the ce nter ou t. Do no t use
solv ents such as b enzine, thinn er , commerciall y
av ailable cleaners, or antistatic spray intended
for anal og discs.
Notes on MP3 files MP 3 (MP EG 1 Au dio Lay er-3) i s a standa rd
techno logy and fo rmat for compr essing a sound
sequen ce. Th e fi le is compre ssed to about 1/10 of
its origin al size. So unds outside the range of
huma n hear ing are c omp ress ed wh ile the sound s
we ca n hear are not co mpres sed.

ISO 9660 For mat
The most common internatio nal standard for
the logi cal format of fil es and folder s on a
CD-R OM.
There ar e several speci fication levels. In
Lev el 1, f ile names must b e in the 8.3 f ormat
(no mor e tha n 8 charac ter s in the na me, no
more th an 3 ch aracte rs in th e extens ion
“.mp3”) a nd in capital letters. F older names
can be no lon ger than 8 cha racte rs. Ther e can
be no mor e tha n 8 neste d fo lder levels. Level
2 specif icatio ns allo w file names up to 3 1
charac ters long .
Each fol der can have up to 8 trees.

Multi Session
This is a recording meth od that enables
adding of data us ing the Track-At-O nce
method. Conv entiona l CDs begi n at a CD
contro l area ca lle d the Lead -in an d end at an
area ca lled L ead -out. A Mu lti Se ssio n CD i s a
CD ha ving multiple ses sions, with eac h
segment from Le ad-i n to Lead- out r egarded
as a sing le se ssio n.

• With form ats ot her t han IS O 96 60 level 1 a nd level 2,
folder names or file n ames may not be displayed
correctly .
• When na ming, be su re to a dd the file extension
“.mp3” to the file name.
• If you put the extension “.mp 3” to a file othe r than
MP3 , the u nit ca nnot r ecogn ize the fi le prop erly a nd
will gen erate ran dom n oise that could d amage your
speakers.
• The following discs take a longer time to star t
playback.
– a disc reco rded wi th a co mplic ated tree s truct ure .
– a disc recorded in Mu lti Session.
– a disc to which data c an be added.
