Tips for Using Your Computer The f ollowing i nformat ion helps you avoid potenti al p ro b le ms as y ou use y ou r

Do no t try t o disassemble your computer. Ope ning the system chassis
voids yo ur warra nty. On ly an authorized manufac ture r se rvice center
can r eplace or add any parts in side the cha ss is.

B ecause a not ebook comp ute r is smal l and h as restr ict ed a ir flow ar ound
com ponents, it is more likely t o overhea t than a deskto p comp uter. A fa n inside
your computer runs when needed to help eli minate heat. Make sure the fan vent
on t he ri ght side of your comput er is not blocked when yo u us e the co mput er.

vent s and remove any ac cumulat ed dust on the ou tsid e.

Avoid u sing or st oring the comp u ter in extremel y hot or cold a reas , such as a
car on a ho t day. Keep the compu te r a way fr om heate rs and out of di rect
sun light. Exposur e to ex cessi ve heat may damag e co m puter components.
I f you h ave left your com puter in a ho t place , let it cool down s lo w l y t o r oo m
tempe rature (with the LCD panel ope n) before using i t.

Do no t remo ve th e memory-module c o m pa r tm en t door, or try to install a
memory m odule when t he computer is on. (Se e Figure 4 on page 5 for doo r
loca tion. )

Set up your comp uter wor k area to avoid phys ica l str ain. S it wit h your ba ck
st raight and sup ported by your ch air. Adjus t your chair or w ork table so tha t
y our arms and wr ists can rem ain in a rel ax ed positio n, para lle l with t he floor.
Avoid bend ing or twisting your wrists as you w ork. Your hands should “ flo at”
sl ightly above the keyboa rd. Refer to a book on offi ce er gonomi cs f or mo re
informa tion on s etting up your work ar ea.

Tak e frequen t bre aks from worki ng at t he compute r to rest you r eyes and
str e tc h your muscles .
•
Remem ber to save your data files freque ntly and to m ake backup copies of your
f iles.
