Safety Precautions I
MPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS. READ CAREFULLY AND KEEP FOR FUTURE REFERENCE. Before cooking food or liquids in your Smart Oven, please check that the following safety precautions are taken. 1. DO NOT use any metalic co okware in the Smart Oven:
• Metalic containers
• Dinnerware with gold or silver trimmings
• Skewers, forks, etc.
Reason:
Electric arcing or sparking ma y occur and may dama ge the oven.
2. DO NOT heat:
• Airtight or vac uum-sealed bott les, jars, contai ners eg Baby food jars.
• Airtight food eg Eggs, nu ts in shells, tomatoes
Reason:
The increase in pressure may cause them to expl ode.
Tip:
Remove lids an d pierce skins, bags, etc.
3. DO NOT operate the Sm art Oven when it is em pty.
Reason:
The oven walls may be damaged.
Tip:
Leave a glass of water inside t he oven at all t imes. The w ater will
absorb the microwaves if you accident ally set the oven g oing when
it is empty.
4. DO NOT cover the rear ve ntilation slots with cloths or paper.
Reason:
The cloths or paper may catch fire as hot air is evacuate d from the
oven.
5. ALWAYS use oven gloves when remo ving a dish fro m the oven.
Reason:
Some dishes absorb microwaves and heat ieg s always transferred
from the food to the dish. The dishes are the refore hot
.
6. DO NOT touch heating el ements or int erior oven wa lls.
Reason:
These walls may be hot enough to b urn skin even after coo king is
finished, thoug h they do n ot appear to b e so. Keep away from hot
spot. Do not allow inflammable ma terials to come into contact with
any interior area of the oven. Let the oven cool dow n first.
7. To reduce the risk of fire in the oven cavity
• Do not store f lammable m aterials in the oven
• Remove wire tw ist ties from pape r or plastic bags
• Do not use your S mart Oven to dry newsp apers
• If smoke is observed , keep the oven door closed and switch off or
disconnect the oven from the po wer supply.
8. Take particular care when h eating liquids an d baby foods.
• ALWAYS allow a sta nding time of at least 20 seconds after the oven h as
been switched o ff to allow th e temperature to e qualize.
• Stir during heating if necessary and ALWAYS stir after heating.
• To prevent eruptive boiling and possible scalding, you should stir before,
during, and after heating.
• In the event of scalding, fo llow these FIRST AID instructions :
* Immerse hand in col d water for at least 10 minutes.
* Cover with clean , dry dressing.
* Do not apply any creams, oils or lotio ns.
• NEVER fill the container to the top and choose a container that is wider at
the top than at the bottom to prevent the liquid from boiling over. Bottles
with narrow necks may also explode if overheated.
• ALWAYS check th e temperature of b aby food or milk befo re giving it to
the baby.

NEVER
heat a baby's bottle with the teat on, as the bottle ma y explode if
overheated.
• During mi crowave hea ting of beve rages, the re are resu lts in delaye d eruptive
boiling, there fore care has to be taken when handling t he container.

Be careful n ot to damage the power cable.
• Do not imme rse power c able or plug in water a nd keep powe r cable awa y
from heated surfaces .
• Do not operat e this applianc e if it has a damaged po wer cable or plug.

Stand at a rm’s length fro m the ove n when opening the door .
Reason:
The hot air or steam re leased may cau se scaldin g.

Keep the inside of the ove n clean.
• Clean the inside of the oven after each use with a mild deter gent solution, but
let the Smart Ove n cool down befo re cleaning in order to avoid injury.
Reason:
Food particles or spa ttered oils stuck to oven walls or floor can cause
the damage of pa inting and redu ce the efficiency of th e oven.

“Clicking” so und might be noticed wh ile operatin g, especially in defrosting mode.
Reason:
When the power out put is changing electr ically, you may hear t hat
sound. This is normal.

If the Smart Oven is operating without any load, the powe r will cut o ff automatically
for safety. Af ter standing fo r over 30 min, you ca n operate the ov en normally.
• Do not w orry is t he oven continue s to work after c ooking has fini shed.
Reason:
The fan will run for 5 minu tes, after co oking has finis hed or stop
button pressed , to cool down the ov en when the oven ha s been
used for some minute s in Fan Oven, Com bination or Fast Prehe at
mode. Wh en cooking has fini shed, th e oven wil l beep an d flash " 0"
four time s. The ove n will then beep once per mi nute.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS During cook ing, you shou ld look into th e oven from tim e to time when fo od is being
heated or co oked in disposab le containe rs of plastic paper or other combu stible
material .
WARNING: Do not use if the door or door seals are damage d. The oven must not be operated unt il
it has be en repaired by a qua lified service tech nician.
WARNING: It is hazardous fo r anyone other th an a qualified service tech nician to carry out any
service or repair oper ation which involve s the removal of a cover which gives
protecti on agains t exposur e to microw ave energ y.
WARNING: Liquids and other foods must not be heated in sealed c ontainers sin ce they ar e liable
to explode.
WARNING: Only allow children to use the oven without super vision when ade quate instructions
have been given so that the child is able to use the oven in a safe way and
underst ands the haza rds of impr oper use.
WARNING: Oven casi ng and door wil l get hot during fan ove n and combi nation cook ing.
