To operate the Pioneer Elite VSX-45 receiver without a remote control, you can follow these steps: 1. Press the "NET" button on the receiver to switch the remote control to the network operation mode. 2. Use the available buttons on the receiver to control the basic playback functions. Note that some buttons may not be available depending on the category being played back. 3. If you wish to control the receiver from a different location or if the receiver is kept in a closed cabinet, you can connect an optional IR receiver (such as a Niles or Xantech unit) to the IR IN jack on the rear of the receiver. This will allow you to control the receiver using the IR receiver instead of the remote sensor on the front panel. 4. If you have other components connected to the receiver, you can use the 12 volt trigger feature to switch them on or off when you select an input function. To set up the 12 volt trigger, refer to the Input Setup menu. 5. Make sure to plug in the receiver after connecting all your components, including the speakers. Handle the power cord properly and avoid pulling it by tugging the cord or touching it with wet hands.
