7 Answering Mach ineGreeting
7.1 Recording your greeting message Y ou can record your o wn greeting message f or
T AM/F A X mode or T AM ONL Y mode, f or a
maximum of 16 seconds (defau lt) or 60 sec onds
in length f or each line or a common g reeting
message f or both lines. W e recommend y ou
record a message of less than 12 seconds to
make i t easier to receive f ax es. If a gr eeting
message is not recorded, pre-recorded greeting
messages will be play ed when a call is received
(page 68).
Sample message for T AM/F AX mode: “This is
(your name). W e are unab le to ans wer right now .
T o send a fax, pleas e star t transmission. T o
leav e a v oice message please spea k after the
beep . Thank you. ”
Sample message for T AM ONL Y mode: “This
is (y our name). We are unab le to ans wer right
now . T o leav e a voic e message, please speak
after the beep . Thank you. ”
1 To record a common greeting message for both lines, press {LINE SELECT }
repeatedly until “LINE 1 and LINE 2” is
announced.
L “LINE1&L INE2 ” will be displa yed.
T o record a greeting message fo r either
line individually , press { LINE SELECT}
repeatedly until “LINE 1” or “LINE 2” is
announced.
L “LINE1 ” or “LINE2 ” will be di spla yed.
2 Press {GREE TING/REC}.
3 Within 10 seconds, press {GREETIN G/REC} again.
L A long beep will sound.
4 Speak clearly about 20 cm (8 inches) away from {MIC }.
L The displa y will show the remai ning
recording time .
5 T o stop recording, press {GREETING/REC }.
L Y ou can also stop recording b y pressing
{ST OP}.
Note:
L If 6 beeps sound and the unit announces
“Y our greeting w as not recorded. Record y our
greeting again. ”, star t again.
L Y ou can c hange the maximum greeting
message recording time to 60 seconds
(feature #54 on page 82).
– If you c hange the setting to 60 seconds,
we recommend that y ou tell the caller in
your teleph one answ ering machine
greeting message to pres s *9 bef ore
star ting f ax transmission (T AM/F AX mode
only).
– If you c hange the setting from 60 seconds
to 16 seconds, y our current greeting
message will be deleted. The pre-
recorded greeting message will be pla y ed
when a call is receiv ed.
L If y ou change the A UT O ANSWER setting
from T AM/F AX mode to T AM ONL Y mode or
vice versa (f eature #77* and f eature #77#
on page 83), re-record an appropriate
greeting message f or the s elected mode.
L If y ou change the max im um recording time to
“GREETI NG ONLY” (feature #10 * and
f eature #10# on page 79, or f eature 0621 and
f eature 0622 on page 89), the unit will answ er
a call with y our current greeting message,
and then hang up . Re-record your greeting
message .
Sample message when th e recording time
is set to “G REETING ONLY ” : “This is (your
name). W e are unable to ans wer right now .
Please try again later . Thank you. ”
To check the greeting message 1. Select the lin e(s) by pressing {LINE
SEL ECT}.
2. Pre ss { GREETING/CHE CK}.
L When both li nes are selected and they
hav e separate g reeting messages, the
greeting mes sage for LINE 1 will be
pla yed first.
