I cannot hear a dial tone.RIf you used a splitter/coupler to connect the unit, remove the splitter/coupler
and connect the unit to the wall jack directly. If the unit operates properly,
check the splitter/coupler.
RDisconnect the unit from the telephone line and connect a known working
telephone. If the working telephone operates properly, contact our service
personnel to have the unit repaired. If the working telephone does not
operate properly, contact your telephone company.
RThe mains lead or telephone line cord is not connected. Check the
connections.
RIf you have connected the fax machine through a computer modem, connect
the fax machine directly to a telephone line jack.
The unit does not work.
RCheck the connections (page 20).
RMake sure that the cordless handset’s battery is installed correctly
(page 18) and fully charge it (page 21).
The unit does not ring.RThe ringer volume is turned OFF. Adjust it (page 21).
I cannot make calls.RThe cordless handset is too far from the base unit. Move closer and try
again.

The unit displays “PAPER
JAMMED” even though paper
is installed.
RYou forced the recording paper into the paper tray too strongly. Remove all
of the installed paper, and re-install it gently.
The unit displays “CHECK
PAPER” even though paper is
inserted.
RThe paper is inserted halfway. Insert it correctly (page 65) and press
MSETN to clear the message.
The other party complains
they only hear a fax tone and
cannot talk.
RFAX ONLY mode is set. Tell the other party the number is only used for
faxes.
RChange the receiving mode to TEL mode (page 33), TEL/FAX mode
(page 33) or TAM/FAX mode (page 34).
MREDIALN or MPAUSEN on the
base unit does not function
properly.
RIf this button is pressed during dialling, a pause will be inserted. If pressed
immediately after a dial tone is obtained, the last number dialled will be
redialled.
During programming, I
cannot enter the code or ID
number.
RAll or part of the number is the same as another code or ID. Change the
number:
–remote operation ID (code): page 40, or feature #11 on page 42.
–fax activation code: feature #41 on page 45.
–auto disconnection code: feature #49 on page 45.
The ink film runs out quickly.REven if there are only a few sentences, every page that comes out of the
machine is considered a full page.
RTurn OFF the following features:
–sending report: feature #04 on page 42.
–journal report: feature #22 on page 43.
–Caller ID list: feature #26 on page 44.
The base unit beeps.RThe memory reception alert of feature #44 is ON (page 45), and the unit has
a document in memory. Press MSTOPN to stop the beeps, then see the
displayed message instructions to solve the problem.
The speakerphone is not
working.
RUse the speakerphone in a quiet room.
RIf you have difficulty hearing the other party, adjust the volume.
