Thank y ou for purc hasing the MX L V67 Condenser Microphone. W ith proper care, this mic w ill provide
many years of satisfaction. For best results, please take a few moments to review this literature.
General Characteristics
This microphone has a one-inch gold sputtered diaphragm and a fairly wide fixed cardioid pickup pattern.
Large capsule condensers are very se nsitive, readily revealing very su btle sonic details. They als o tend to
pick up sounds outside the pattern more than some designs, which c an l ead to po werful feedback if you are
not ca reful. W e strongly advise experimentation with placement and isolation requirements with the gain
initially set low to avoid equipment (and ear) damaging surprises!
Power Requirements
IMPORTANT - This unit req uires phantom p ower at 48 volts, +/- 4 volts. Each unit has been thoroughly
checked before shipping, so if you hear no s ound, check that the phantom power on your mixer or separa te
power supply is switched on!
Isolation Mount
The optional MX L57 shock mount can shift i n shipment. Simply shift the nylon bands to ce nter the
microphone in the assembly. Be sure that the wire clamp does not rest on the chassis of the mount, as this
impairs mechanical is olation. Sli de the mount all the way to th e ri m of the microphone for the most secure
hold.
Microphone Cables
The microphone cable can have a p rofound effect on the s ound o f any microphone. Even the f inest
microphones will sound poor if th e interconnect cable allows noise to enter, or causes distortion and loss of
information. Use only the best microphone cable your budget will allow.
Care
Dust and foreign m aterial can degrade the performance of a microphone over time so always store the un it
in i ts case. For voc als closer than 3”, use a “popper stopper” or a foa m windsc reen to avoid getting moisture
on the diaphragm as thi s ca n su bstantially d egrade the microphone’s performance. Sto re the m icrophone in
its original packaging, or the included zipper pouch.
