Espresso / Cappuccino

Espresso Coffee
Espresso is much stronger and more
aromatic than normal coffee and is drunk
out of small cups called espresso cups. It is
prepared by forcing hot water under
pressure through ground coffee. This
produces the delightful black coffee with the
stimulating effect.
Apart from its characteristic flavour, the
hallmark of espresso is the typical formation
of a splendid froth, called crema. This
requires a high pressure and the use of
genuine, properly roasted espresso coffee
beans which have been correctly ground.
If you do not purchase ready-ground
espresso coffee, grind the coffee beans in a
coffee mill with the setting medium to fine.

Preparing the appliance

Open the lid and remove the water
container (2).
Fill the water container with water (3).
Replace the water container, pressing it
down firmly so that the base valve will
open. Then close the lid (4).

How often should I descale my coffee maker?

How often a coffee machine needs to be descaled depends on how often it is used and the hardness of the water. If hard water is used it is recommended to descale once a month, if soft water is used once a quarter is sufficient.

What is the best way to descale my coffee maker?

To descale the coffee maker, it is recommended to use a liquid descaling agent which is labelled as suitable for coffee machines.

What is espresso?

Espresso is a small amount of concentrated coffee.

How long can I keep coffee beans?

The best-before date can be found on the packaging of the coffee beans. This best-before date applies as long as the bag is closed.

What is the best way to store coffee?

It is recommended to store coffee in an airtight and clean container.

What does the grind say about the taste of the coffee?

How the coffee beans are ground strongly influences the taste of the coffee. If the coffee beans are very finely ground you will have a stronger taste and if the grind is coarser you will have a milder taste.

How do I descale my Krups CaféPresso Crematic Time 888 coffee maker?

To descale your coffee maker, mix equal parts of white vinegar and water, and then run a descaling cycle through the machine. Repeat the process with plain water afterwards to remove any vinegar residue.

How do I adjust the brewing strength of my coffee?

You can adjust the brewing strength by changing the amount of coffee grounds you use. Experiment with different amounts until you find your desired strength. Additionally, you can try using a finer grind for stronger coffee or a coarser grind for milder coffee.

How can I troubleshoot if the coffee maker doesn't turn on?

Firstly, make sure that the coffee maker is plugged in and the power switch is turned on. If it still doesn't turn on, check if there is a power outage or if the circuit breaker has been tripped. If none of these seem to be the issue, it might be a problem with the internal components of the machine, and it would be advisable to contact Krups customer service for further assistance.

What should I do if the coffee tastes bitter?

Bitter coffee can be a result of over-extraction. To remedy this, try using a coarser grind or reducing the brewing time. Additionally, make sure not to leave the brewed coffee sitting on the warming plate for too long, as this can also contribute to bitterness.

How do I clean the milk frothing system of the coffee maker?

To clean the milk frothing system, detach the milk container and rinse it thoroughly with warm water immediately after each use. If there are any milk residues stuck, use a soft brush or toothbrush to gently clean them. It's important to keep the frothing system clean to prevent any build-up that might affect the quality of frothed milk.
