ALUMINUM FOIL (For Ovens Only)
IMPORTANT: To avoid permanent damage to the oven bottom finish, do not line the oven bottom with any type
of foil or liner.
For best cooking results, do not cover entire rack with foil because air must be able to move freely.
To catch spills, place foil on rack below dish. Make sure foil is at least 1/2" (1.3 cm) larger than the dish
and that it is turned up at the edges.
ALUMINIUM FOIL AND METAL (For Microwave Ovens Only)
Always use oven mitts or pot holders when removing dishes from the microwave oven.
Aluminum foil and some metal can be used in the microwave oven. If not used properly, arcing (a blue flash of
light) can occur and cause damage to the microwave oven.
OK for Use
Racks and bakeware supplied with the microwave oven (on some models), aluminum foil for shielding, and
approved meat thermometers may be used with the following guidelines:
To avoid damage to the microwave oven, do not allow aluminum foil or metal to touch the inside cavity walls,
ceiling or floor.
Always use the turntable.
To avoid damage to the microwave oven, do not allow contact with another metal object during microwave
cooking.
Do Not Use
Metal cookware and bakeware, gold, silver, pewter, non-approved meat thermometers, skewers, twist ties, foil
liners such as sandwich wrappers, staples and objects with gold or silver trim or a metallic glaze should not be
used in the microwave oven.
RACK AND BAKEWARE POSITIONS (For Ovens Only)
Rack Positions - Upper And Lower Oven
Baking Cakes on 2 Racks
For best results when baking cakes on 2 racks, use the
Bake function and flat racks in positions 2 and 5. Place the
cakes on the racks as shown. Keep at least 2 inches of
space between the front of the racks and the front of the
cakes.
Baking Cookies on 2 Racks
For best results when baking cookies on 2 racks, use the
Convect Bake function and place flat racks in positions 2
and 5.
POSITIONING BAKING TRAY (For Microwave Only)
Baking tray can only be used with convection cooking and
broiling. To avoid damage to the microwave oven, do not use
baking tray in combination with microwave cooking.
Place baking tray on slide rails as shown below. Push in tray to
stop position. Check that the baking tray is level.
For best cooking results, use baking tray only in the
recommended position.
A. Slide rail
B.
Baking tray
Oven Racks
IMPORT
ANT: To avoid permanent damage to the porcelain
finish, do not place food or bakeware directly on the oven door
or bottom.
Racks
Position racks before turning on the oven.
Do not position racks with bakeware on them.
Make sure racks are level.
To move a rack, pull it out to the stop position, raise the front
edge, then lift it out. Use the following illustration and charts as
guides.
NOTE: The SatinGlide Roll-Out Extension Rack for Smart Oven+ Attachments is inserted and removed the
same way as a standard rack, however, more force is needed.
OVEN VENT(S)
The oven vent(s) should not be
blocked or covered since they allow
the inlet of fresh air into the cooling
system. Also, the bottom vent
should not be blocked or covered
since it allows the inlet of fresh air
into the cooling system and the
outlet of hot air from the cooling
system. Blocking or covering vents
will cause poor air circulation,
affecting cooking, cleaning, and
cooling results.
Combination Microwave Oven
A. Control panel
B. Microwave oven vent
C. Microwave oven
D. Oven vent
E. Lower oven
F. Bottom vent
OVEN LIGHTS
The oven lights are 120 V, 40 W maximum halogen bulbs. They will come on when the oven door is opened. On
double oven models, both upper and lower lights will come on when either door is opened. The oven lights will
not work during the Self-Cleaning cycle.
When the door is closed, touch the appropriate Oven Light keypad to turn on the oven light.
To Replace:
Before replacing the bulb, make sure the oven is off and cool.
1. Disconnect power.
2. Remove glass light cover by grasping the front edge and pulling
away from oven.
3. Remove bulb from socket.
4. Replace bulb, using tissue or wearing cotton gloves to handle
bulb. To avoid damage to or decreasing the life of the new bulb,
do not touch bulb with bare fingers.

When using the convection feature on the KitchenAid KOCE500ESS microwave, it is recommended to leave the microwave turntable in place. The convection cooking uses the convection element, the broil element, and the fan to circulate hot air throughout the oven cavity. The constantly moving air surrounds the food to heat the outer portion quickly. To ensure proper convection cooking, always use the convection grid placed on the turntable or baking tray. Do not cover the turntable or convection grid with aluminum foil, and avoid using light plastic containers, plastic wrap, or paper products. You can use convection cooking for items such as souffles, breads, cookies, angel food cakes, pizza, and most meats and fish. Remember to preheat the oven before placing the food inside.

My microwave doesn't make popcorn, I type "popcorn" and the time is not enough, even though I have set it for 4 minutes and it only pops half of a mini bag. To heat a cup of water, it takes 2:30 minutes. Also, when baking cookies in the oven, which should take 16 minutes, I have to give it more than 30 minutes. I think I don't know how to use it, it's new. When I'm baking, the fan at the back keeps spinning, I don't know if it's normal.

I have kitchenaid built in oven unit that has microwave on top and wall oven with convection option on bottom. Installed in August 2020. How long will the oven hold heat after being turned off. Several recipes require it to slowly cool to new temp or cool over hours to room temperature, but it sounds like a fan switches on as soon as i turn the oven off or lower the temperature.

The manual for the KitchenAid KOCE500ESS microwave does not provide specific information about how long the oven will retain heat after being turned off. However, it is common for ovens to retain heat for a period of time after being turned off. The duration of heat retention can vary depending on factors such as the insulation of the oven and the temperature at which it was set. It is recommended to allow the oven to cool down gradually by leaving the door closed after turning it off. This will help the oven retain heat for a longer period of time. Please note that the fan turning on after turning off or lowering the temperature of the oven is a normal operation to help cool down the oven faster.
