Which size of needle you can best use depends on the thickness of the fabric you use. With a thick fabric you should use a thick needle. The packaging of your needle states for which substances your needle is suitable.
Generally, a sewing needle lasts about 7 to 9 hours.
There can be several causes for needle breakage: - Not using the right needle for the right fabric - The needle is set too low - The fabric is not properly guided - The bobbin case is not inserted correctly
To ensure correct threading, start by raising the presser foot lever and turn the handwheel towards you until the needle is at its highest position. Next, take the spool pin cap off and place the thread spool on the horizontal spool pin. Thread the upper thread through the machine's thread guides, tension discs, and finally through the needle from front to back. Remember to always consult the manual for detailed instructions specific to your model.
There are various potential causes for needle breakage. Firstly, check if the needle is inserted correctly and if it is of the appropriate size and type for the fabric you are using. Additionally, inspect the needle for any signs of damage or if it is bent. Another common issue might be incorrect threading, so retrace the threading process and ensure it is done correctly. Lastly, excessive speed or excessive pressure on the fabric can also cause needle breakage, so try adjusting these settings accordingly.
To adjust the tension, start by turning the handwheel towards you until the needle is at its highest position. Locate the tension control dial, usually situated on the front side of the machine, and turn it either clockwise or counterclockwise to increase or decrease the tension respectively. It is important to remember that different fabrics may require different tension settings, so experimentation and practice are often needed to achieve the optimal result.
Regular maintenance is crucial for optimal machine performance. Start by turning off and unplugging the machine. Thoroughly clean the bobbin area, feed dogs, and needle plate using a soft brush to remove lint, thread, and debris. Additionally, periodically oil the machine as indicated in the manual using sewing machine oil. It is important to follow the specific maintenance instructions in the manual to ensure proper care and long-term functionality.
Inconsistent stitches or improper sewing can have several causes. First, recheck the threading of both the upper and bobbin threads following the manual instructions. Ensure that the bobbin is correctly inserted in the bobbin case and that the upper thread is properly through the tension discs. Furthermore, confirm that the needle is not bent or damaged. If issues persist, re-evaluate the fabric, needle size, thread type, and adjust settings accordingly. If necessary, consult the manual for troubleshooting tips specific to your model.

There is a large button with a yellow reversing arrow on the main digital interface. You can hold it to have a few reverse stitches, or double press it to stay in reverse. It’s also the button to use for moving on to the next steps with the button hole stitch options.
