2.1 Removing the Old Thermostat

IN ORDER TO AVOID ANY RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, CUT
POWER TO THE HEATING SYSTEM.

n Remove the old thermostat to access the wires.

Attention: If the old thermostat was mounted onto an electrical box,
it was probably powered by 120/240 volts. In this case, this thermo-
stat cannot be used.
o Identify and label each wire (with the corresponding letter on
the wire terminal) and remove them from the terminals.

p If necessary, strip the end of each wire (maximum of 1/4 inch).

q Wrap the wires around a pencil to prevent

them from falling into the wall.

r If the hole in the wall is too big, insulate it

using a non-flammable material in order
to avoid air draughts behind the thermo-
stat.

2.2 Installing the New Baseplate

For a new installation, choose a location approximately 5 feet
(1.5 m) above the floor and on an inside wall. Avoid draughty
areas (top of staircase, air outlet, etc.), dead air spots (behind
doors), direct sunlight or areas near concealed pipes or chim-
neys.

n Remove the thermostat faceplate.

o Loosen the locking screw to separate the thermostat from its

baseplate (the screw cannot be completely removed).

p Tilt the thermostat upwards.

q Mark and bore the appropriate mounting holes (or use the

existing holes). Insert the plastic anchors.

r Pass the wires through the opening of the baseplate and fix the

baseplate to the wall using the screws provided.

2.3 Connecting the Thermostat

The connection of the new thermostat should be similar to that of
the old thermostat; however, it can vary depending on the installa-
tion.
Note: The red jumper wire between the Rc and Rh terminals must
be removed in 2- or 5-wire installations. The jumper must be used in
3- or 4-wire installations if you wish to use the mode selector switch
for the fan.

Can't find the answer to your question in the manual? You may find the answer to your question in the FAQs about the Honeywell RTH110B below.

Where is the best location to place the thermostat?

The best place for the thermostat is the room where you spend the most time, in many cases the living room or kitchen. Place the thermostat about one and a half metres above the floor, not in the sun and not on an outside wall.

What is the dead band of a thermostat?

If your thermostat has a dead band, your installation is, as it were, 'at rest'. The thermostat only switches on when, for example, the difference deviates more than 2˚C from the set room temperature.

What is the ideal room temperature?

Most people find that the ideal room temperature is between 19 and 22 degrees Celsius.

My thermostat isn't turning on. What should I do?

First, check if the thermostat is securely connected to the power source. If it is, try replacing the batteries to ensure they are not depleted. Additionally, make sure that the circuit breaker or fuse for your heating/cooling system is not tripped or blown.

How can I adjust the temperature setpoint on my thermostat?

Press the "Up" or "Down" arrow buttons to modify the desired temperature. You can make small adjustments or hold the button for rapid changes. Once you have set the desired temperature, the thermostat should maintain that level until you modify it again.

Why is my thermostat displaying a blank screen?

This could be due to a power issue. Check if the batteries in your thermostat need to be replaced or if there is a problem with the power connection. Additionally, ensure that the display contrast is adjusted properly, as a very low contrast may make the screen appear blank.

How do I switch the thermostat between heating and cooling modes?

Press the "Mode" button to cycle between different modes. When you reach the desired mode, such as "Heat" or "Cool," the thermostat will activate the appropriate system. It is important to note that not all thermostat models offer both heating and cooling capabilities.

Can I program my thermostat to automatically adjust the temperature at different times?

Yes, you can use the program feature to create custom temperature schedules. Press the "Program" button to enter the programming mode. From there, you can set specific temperatures for different time periods throughout the day, ensuring optimal comfort and energy efficiency.
