The best place for the thermostat is the room where you spend the most time, in many cases the living room or kitchen. Place the thermostat about one and a half metres above the floor, not in the sun and not on an outside wall.
If your thermostat has a dead band, your installation is, as it were, 'at rest'. The thermostat only switches on when, for example, the difference deviates more than 2˚C from the set room temperature.
Most people find that the ideal room temperature is between 19 and 22 degrees Celsius.
To set the thermostat to a specific temperature, press the "Set" button, followed by the up or down arrow buttons to adjust the desired temperature.
If the display is not turning on, check the power supply by ensuring the thermostat is properly connected to the electrical source. If the issue persists, verify the circuit breaker for the thermostat is not tripped.
To program automatic temperature adjustments, press the "Program" button, followed by selecting the desired day(s) using the arrow buttons. Then, set the desired heating or cooling temperature for each time period using the up or down arrow buttons.
To temporarily override the programmed temperature, press the "Hold" button. Then, use the up or down arrow buttons to set the desired temperature. The manual override will remain in effect until the next scheduled program change, or until the "Hold" button is pressed again to cancel it.
If the thermostat is not turning on the heating or cooling system, check if the thermostat is set to the correct mode (heat, cool, or auto). Additionally, ensure the heating or cooling system itself is functioning properly and that the thermostat is set to a temperature requiring activation. If the issue persists, it is recommended to contact a professional technician for further assistance.

We have a Honeywell Chronotherm IV Plus thermostat. It was installed in 2003. When the air conditioning is turned on, the temperature reading will increase to about 8 -10 degrees over the set temperature (i.e. temperature set at 75 degrees, but thermostat temperature will climb to 85 degrees). The AC system will continue running until we either turn it off manually, or reset the programmed temperatuture to 85 degrees. (By the way, there don't appear to be any batteries for this model) How do we fix this?
