To enable the Demand Response feature on your GE PGE29BYTFS refrigerator, follow these steps: 1. Ensure that your refrigerator is connected to the internet and has a wireless router for interconnection with an Energy Management System and/or other external devices, systems, or applications. 2. Understand what Demand Response is. Some utilities vary their electricity rates based on the time of day and offer programs to reduce energy usage during certain times. The Demand Response feature on your refrigerator helps control energy usage. 3. If you want to use Demand Response without a utility program, you can enable a feature that allows the refrigerator to limit high-energy functions, such as defrost, for a 4-hour window. This feature is enabled or disabled using the SmartHQTM app, which requires the SmartHQTM to operate. 4. If you have a utility program and are signed up with the utility, your refrigerator can modify its energy usage based on commands received from the utility. The SmartHQTM app provides more information on the operation of the Demand Response program. 5. Install the SmartHQTM app according to the instructions provided. The app will guide you on how to enable and configure the Demand Response feature for your GE PGE29BYTFS refrigerator. Please note that the availability and compatibility of Demand Response programs may vary depending on your local utility.

The demand response feature requires internet connectivity to receive commands from the utility. 2. Verify the utility program: Make sure that you are enrolled in a demand response program with your utility company. The refrigerator can modify its energy usage based on commands received from the utility, but this feature requires participation in the program. 3. Confirm compatibility: Check with your local utility to ensure that their demand response program is compatible with kitchen appliances. Not all programs support controlling energy usage for refrigerators. 4. Install the SmartHQTM app: Follow the instructions provided in the manual to install the SmartHQTM app on your mobile device. This app provides more information on the operation of the demand response feature and allows you to configure settings if desired. 5. Contact customer support: If the issue persists, reach out to GE customer support for further assistance. They can provide specific troubleshooting steps or arrange for a technician to inspect your refrigerator. Remember to always follow the instructions provided in the manual and consult the manufacturer or authorized service personnel for any technical issues.
