Precautions

• Do not exceed the specication ratings.
• All wiring must conform to local and national electrical codes and ordinances.
• This control is a precision instrument, and should be handled carefully. Rough handing or
distorting components could cause the control to malfunction.

Higher voltage will damage control and could
cause shock or re hazard.
Do not short out terminals on gas valve or primary
control to test. Short or incorrect wiring will burn
out thermostat and could cause personal injury
and/or property damage.
CAUTION
!
To prevent electrical shock and/or equipment
damage, disconnect electrical power to system,
at main fuse or circuit breaker box, until
installation is complete.
Leveling Thermostat
Leveling is for appearance only and
will not aect thermostat operation.
CAUTION
!
To prevent compressor and/or property damage, if the outdoor temperature is below 50°F,
DO NOT operate the cooling system.
Do not allow the compressor to run unless the compressor oil heaters have been operational
for 6 hours and the system has not been operational for at least 5 minutes.

Can't find the answer to your question in the manual? You may find the answer to your question in the FAQs about the Emerson 1F85U-42NP below.

Where is the best location to place the thermostat?

The best place for the thermostat is the room where you spend the most time, in many cases the living room or kitchen. Place the thermostat about one and a half metres above the floor, not in the sun and not on an outside wall.

What is the dead band of a thermostat?

If your thermostat has a dead band, your installation is, as it were, 'at rest'. The thermostat only switches on when, for example, the difference deviates more than 2˚C from the set room temperature.

What is the ideal room temperature?

Most people find that the ideal room temperature is between 19 and 22 degrees Celsius.

How do I program the thermostat to set different temperatures for different times of day?

To program different temperatures for different times of day, you can access the programming menu on the thermostat's display by pressing the "Menu" button. From there, navigate to the "Program Schedule" or similar option, and you can set up multiple time periods and desired temperatures for each period.

How can I override the programmed schedule and manually adjust the temperature?

If you wish to temporarily override the programmed schedule and manually adjust the temperature, you can simply press the up or down arrow buttons to increase or decrease the desired temperature. The thermostat will maintain this manually set temperature until the next scheduled program change.

My thermostat is not displaying the current indoor temperature accurately, how can I calibrate it?

If you suspect that the current temperature displayed by the thermostat is not accurate, you can go into the settings menu by pressing the "Menu" button. Look for the "Calibration" or similar option and follow the prompts to adjust the displayed temperature, ensuring it matches a reliable source, such as a thermometer placed nearby.

How can I adjust the thermostat's backlight intensity to my preference?

If you find the thermostat's backlight too bright or too dim, you can adjust its intensity by accessing the settings menu. Look for options like "Backlight" or "Screen Brightness" and use the arrow buttons to increase or decrease the backlight intensity according to your preference.

Can I program the thermostat to optimize energy efficiency and save costs?

Absolutely! To maximize energy efficiency and save costs, you can utilize the thermostat's programmable features. By setting lower temperatures when you are away or asleep and higher temperatures when you are active or awake, you can reduce energy consumption.
