Programming with SIMPL Windows SIMPL (Symbol Intensive Master Program ming Language) is an easy-to-use
programm ing language that is com pletely integrated and compat ible with all
Crestron system hardware. The objects that are used in SIMPL are called sym bols.
SIMPL Windows offers drag and drop functionality in a familiar Windows
environment.
SIMPL Windows is Crestron Electroni cs’ software for programm ing Crestron
control system s. It provides a well-designed graphical environment wi th a number
of workspaces (i.e., windows) in which a programm er can select, configure,
program, test, and m onitor a Crestron control system.
The next two subsections describe a sample SIMPL Windows program that utilizes
the CNXRY-8. The first subsection det ails how the sam ple program works wit h a
textual descripti on and block diagram. The second subsection provides a broad
description of how to actually create the SIMPL Windows program.
NOTE: The following description assum es that the reader has knowledge of
SIMPL Windows. If not, please refer to the extensi ve help information provi ded
with the software.
How the Program Works A basic CNXRY-8 SIMPL program is shown on the next page in block di agram
form. For this exam ple, the CNXRY-8 occupi es slot 1 of a CNMSX-PRO. Assum e
there are two rooms that have l ighting system s that are controlled via relays. Each
room can have up to four scenes of light ing. A scene is engaged by lat ching a relay.
Only one scene can be activated in a room at a time.
Room 1 uses relay s A1 through A4; room 2 uses relays A5 through A8. When the
user presses any of the buttons for room 1 (join numbers 1-4), the correspondi ng
signal goes high on the input of t he Interlock sym bol for room 1. The correspondi ng
output of the Interlock la tches high. Since the Interl ock is mutuall y exclusive, only
