. Detergent

Detergent
You can use tablets as well as powder
or liquid detergents for dishwashers, but
never use washing up liquid.
The dosage can be individually adjusted
with powder or a liquid detergent
according to the degree of soiling.
Tablets contain an adequately large
amount of active ingredients
for all cleaning tasks. Modern, powerful
detergents predominantly use a low-
alkaline formulation with phosphate
and enzymes. Phosphates bond
the lime in the water. Enzymes break
down starch and remove protein.
Phosphate-free detergents are less
frequent. These have a slightly weaker
lime bonding capacity and require
a higher dosage. To remove coloured
stains (e.g. tea, tomato sauce), oxygen-
based bleaching agents are usually
used.
Note
To ensure a good washing result,
always follow the instructions
on the detergent packaging!
If you have further questions,
we recommend that you contact
the detergent manufacturers’ helpline.

m Warning – Read and observe the

safety information and instructions for
use on the packaging for cleaning and
rinsing agents.

Adding detergent

1. If the detergent dispenser 9" is still
closed, press the lock 9* to open
the detergent dispenser.
Pour detergent into the dry detergent
dispenser 9" only (insert tablet flat,
not on its edge).
Dosage: see manufacturer’s
instructions on the packaging.
The graduated detergent
dispenser 9" helps you add the
correct amount of powder or liquid
detergent.
Usually 20 ml–25 ml are adequate
for normal soiling. If using tablets,
one tablet is adequate.
2. Close the cover on the detergent
dispenser by sliding it up until the
lock engages without difficulty.
The detergent dispenser opens
automatically at the optimum time
depending on the programme.
The powder or liquid detergent
is distributed in the appliance and is
dissolved, the tablet falls into
the tablet collecting tray where it
dissolves in doses.

Can't find the answer to your question in the manual? You may find the answer to your question in the FAQs about the Bosch SuperSilence SMI53M75EU below.

What do I do about a smelly dishwasher?

In the case of a smelly dishwasher, you can take the following steps: - Clean the filters - Clean the spray arms - Clean the door rubbers - Run a hot wash program - Run an empty machine with a dishwasher cleaner

Do you have to pre-rinse the dishes?

It is not recommended to rinse dirty dishes before placing them in the dishwasher. For the life cycle of the machine, it is better to put everything dirty in the dishwasher. The grease on the dirty dishes is the lubrication for the pump in the machine.

How much dishwashing detergent should I use?

The average amount used is about 25 grams of dishwashing detergent. It is recommended to follow the advice on the packaging.

How do I add softening salt to my dishwasher?

Each dishwasher has a separate compartment for softening salt. It opens when you turn the knob on the compartment. The softening salt can then be poured into the compartment by means of a funnel.

Why isn't my dishwasher turning on?

Check if the dishwasher is properly plugged into the power outlet and ensure that there is no power outage. Additionally, make sure the door is securely closed as the dishwasher cannot start if the door is not fully latched.

Why isn't my dishwasher cleaning the dishes properly?

Verify that you are loading the dishes correctly, ensuring they are not blocking the spray arms. Also, check if the spray arms are clean and free from any debris. Use the appropriate dishwasher detergent and select the appropriate wash program based on the level of soil on your dishes.

Why is my dishwasher not draining water?

First, inspect the drain hose to ensure it is not kinked or clogged. Additionally, check the filter and remove any debris that may be obstructing the drainage system. If the issue persists, there might be a problem with the drain pump or the plumbing connection, requiring professional assistance.

Why is my dishwasher making unusual noises?

It is normal for the dishwasher to make some noise during operation, such as a gentle hum or water swishing sounds. However, if you notice loud or unusual noises, check for any loose items, such as utensils or dishes, that may be rattling around inside the machine. Also, inspect the spray arms for obstructions and ensure they are properly attached.

How can I troubleshoot an error code displayed on my dishwasher?

Error codes can indicate various issues with your dishwasher. To troubleshoot, try turning off the dishwasher and then restarting it after a few minutes. If the error code persists, note down the code and the specific behavior associated with it. You can then refer to the dishwasher's troubleshooting section in the manual, which provides detailed instructions on how to address specific error codes.
