Can't find the answer to your question in the manual? You may find the answer to your question in the FAQs about the Black & Decker CM4000S below.

How often should I descale my coffee maker?

How often a coffee machine needs to be descaled depends on how often it is used and the hardness of the water. If hard water is used it is recommended to descale once a month, if soft water is used once a quarter is sufficient.

What is the best way to descale my coffee maker?

To descale the coffee maker, it is recommended to use a liquid descaling agent which is labelled as suitable for coffee machines.

What is espresso?

Espresso is a small amount of concentrated coffee.

How long can I keep coffee beans?

The best-before date can be found on the packaging of the coffee beans. This best-before date applies as long as the bag is closed.

What is the best way to store coffee?

It is recommended to store coffee in an airtight and clean container.

What does the grind say about the taste of the coffee?

How the coffee beans are ground strongly influences the taste of the coffee. If the coffee beans are very finely ground you will have a stronger taste and if the grind is coarser you will have a milder taste.

Why is my coffee not brewing properly?

Ensure that the coffee grounds are evenly distributed in the filter basket and not packed too tightly. Additionally, check that the water reservoir is filled to the proper level indicated on the coffee maker.

How can I avoid the coffee maker overflowing?

Make sure that the carafe is placed correctly under the brew basket. Also, confirm that the brew basket is properly aligned with the designated opening and not blocked by any misplaced parts.

My coffee tastes weak, what can I do?

Adjust the brew strength control on the coffee maker to a higher setting for a stronger coffee flavor. You can also try using a slightly higher ratio of coffee grounds to water, following the recommended guidelines for your desired strength.

What is the optimal temperature for brewing coffee in this coffee maker?

The water temperature for brewing is approximately 200°F (approximately 93.3°C), which ensures proper extraction of flavors. If you believe the coffee is not reaching this temperature, try running a cleaning cycle to remove any mineral buildup that might affect the heating elements.

How can I clean my coffee maker effectively?

Regular descaling every 1-3 months is essential to maintain optimum performance. Use a mixture of white vinegar and water (approximately 50:50 ratio) and run it through a brewing cycle. Then, follow up with a couple of cycles using only clean water to rinse out any residue. Don't forget to clean the carafe, brew basket, and other removable parts after every use.
