What does systolic pressure mean?

Systolic pressure is the top number that the blood pressure monitor will indicate. Systolic pressure refers to the amount of pressure in your arteries during the contraction of your heart muscle.

What does diastolilc pressure mean?

Diastolic pressure is the lowest number that the blood pressure monitor will indicate. The bottom number refers to your blood pressure when your heart muscle is between beats.

What is a normal blood pressure?

A normal blood pressure is about 120/80.

How do I properly position the sphygmomanometer cuff on my arm before taking a measurement?

To position the cuff correctly, ensure that it is placed on the upper arm at the same level as your heart, about 2-3 centimeters above the elbow crease.

What is the recommended inflation level for accurate blood pressure measurements?

It is crucial to inflate the cuff properly to obtain accurate readings. Begin by inflating the cuff until you no longer feel your pulse, then add another 30 millimeters of mercury (mmHg).

How can I ensure that my blood pressure values are displayed correctly on the device?

Make sure that your arm is relaxed and supported at heart level during the measurement. This ensures proper blood flow and accurate readings on the device's display.

What steps should I take to maintain the accuracy of my sphygmomanometer?

Regularly check the cuff and tubing for any wear or damage. Keep the device clean and store it in a dry, cool place. It is also important to calibrate the sphygmomanometer periodically as recommended by the manufacturer.

The systolic value represents the pressure of your blood when the heart contracts, while the diastolic value indicates the pressure when the heart relaxes.
