If you forget the password If the passw ord function is activated, y ou will be
ask ed to enter the six-digit pass wor d ev er y time
you turn o n the projector . If you enter the wr ong
passw ord, the passw ord er ror message as pictur ed
to the right displa ys l asting for thr ee seconds, and
the message 'INPUT PASS WORD' fo llows. Y ou
can ret r y by entering another six-digit passwor d, or
if you did not r ecord the passw ord in this man ual, and you absolutel y do not
remember it, y ou can use the passw ord recall pr ocedur e. See "Entering the passw ord
recall procedur e" on page 32 f or details.
If you e nter an incorr ect passw ord 5 times in succession, the pr ojector will
automatically shut do wn in a short time .
Entering the password recall procedure 1. Press and hold Auto on the projec tor or
remo te control f or 3 seconds. The projector
will displa y a co ded number on the scr een.
2. Write down the number and turn off your
pr ojector .
3. Seek help fr om the local BenQ service center
to decode the n umber . Y ou ma y be r equir ed
to pr ovide pr oof of pur chase documentation
to verify that y ou are an authorized user of the proje ctor .
Changing the password 1. Open the OSD menu and go to the SYSTEM SETUP : Advanced > Security
Settings > Change Password menu.
2. Press OK . The message 'INPUT CURRENT PASSWORD' displa ys.
3. Enter the old passw ord.
• If the passw ord is corr ect, another message 'INPUT NEW PASSWORD'
displa ys.
• If the passw ord is i ncorrec t, the passw ord er ror message dis pla ys. Y ou can
press MENU to cancel the change or try another passwor d.
4. Enter a new passw ord.
IMPOR T ANT : The digi ts being input will displa y as aste risks on-screen.
Write your selected passw ord do wn here in this manual in advance or
right after the passw ord is enter ed so that it is a vailable to you should y ou
e ver forg et it.

5. Confirm the ne w passwor d by r e-entering the new passw ord.
