To activate the California Energy Commission (CEC) battery charging testing mode on the AT&T CL82414 phone, follow these steps: 1. Unplug the telephone base power adapter from the power outlet and ensure all handsets have charged batteries. 2. While pressing and holding the /HANDSET LOCATOR button, plug the telephone base power adapter back into the power outlet. 3. After about 20 seconds, when the IN USE light starts flashing, release the /HANDSET LOCATOR button and press it again within two seconds. 4. Wait for up to one minute for the process to complete. When the phone successfully enters the CEC battery charging testing mode, the IN USE light turns off, and all handsets display "To register HS, see manual," accompanied by a confirmation tone. To deactivate the CEC battery charging testing mode, simply unplug and plug back the telephone base power adapter, then proceed to register your handsets back to the telephone base.
